       Title: Fresh Apple Bread

            -J SHAVER-MALICK (DFXD50B)
       1 c  Sugar
       1 ts Soda
     1/2 c  Shortening
       1 c  Pecan pieces
       2    Eggs; beaten
   1 1/2 ts Buttermilk
       1 c  Apples; grated
     1/2 ts Vanilla
       2 c  Flour
       1 ts Cinnamon
     1/2 ts Salt
       3 tb Sugar
  
   Cream sugar and shortening; add eggs and apple.  Sift dry ingredients and
   mix with sugar mixture.  Add pecans. Stir in buttermilk and vanilla. Pour
   into greased 10x6x3 loaf pan. Mix sugar and cinnamon, sprinkle on top. Bake
   at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Yield
         1    loaf.
