    1                    egg -- PLUS
                         enough warm water to equal 1 cup
                         plus 2 tablespoons
    1      teaspoon      salt
    1      tablespoon    plus 1 teaspoon sugar
      1/4  cup           plus 2 tablespoons butter -- softened
    3      cups          minus 2 tablespoons unbleached flour
    2      tablespoons   gluten flour -- optional
    2      tablespoons   whey powder -- optional
    1 1/2  teaspoons     lecithin -- optional
    1 1/2  teaspoons     active dry yeast
 
 Place all ingredients into the bread pan in the order listed (or reverse the
 order if your manual calls for dry ingredients first).  Select Basic White
 Bread cycle (or equivalent for your machine), and choose light or medium
 crust; press on.
 
 Use of a delay timer is not recommended for this recipe due to use of
 perishable ingredients.
 
 Makes a 1 1/2 pound loaf.

 NOTES : Classic white bread at its finest - closely textured, sweet and
 delicious.  Superior for grilled cheese sandwiches and toast in all its
 variations - plain buttered, cinnamon toast, French toast, etc.
