                            Sugar-Crusted Apples

    6      lg            cooking apples
      1/3  c             all-purpose flour
      2/3  c             sugar
      1/2  tsp           ground cinnamon
      1/3  c             margarine -- softened
    1                    egg -- slightly beaten
      3/4  c             orange juice
                         whipped cream
 
 Core and peel apples.  Combine flour, sugar, and cinnamon; cut in margarine wit
 h 2 knives or a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse cornmeal.  Brush 
 apples with egg, and roll each in flour mixture.
 Arrange apples in a greased, shallow baking pan; fill cavities of apples with a
 ny remaining flour mixture.  Pour orange juice into pan; bake, uncovered, @ 350
 F for 1 hr or until apples are tender.  Serve warm with pan liquid; top with wh
 ipped cream .
