                            Roasted tomato salad

   12      large         egg tomatoes
    2      tablespoons   olive oil
    2      tablespoons   mild sweet chilli sauce
    2      cloves        garlic -- crushed
    1      teaspoon      salt
    1      teaspoon      cracked black pepper
                         DRESSING
    1      tablespoon    balsamic or red wine vinegar
      1/3  cup           olive oil
    1      teaspoon      fresh thyme -- chopped
    1      clove         garlic -- crushed
 
 Halve tomatoes lengthways.
 Place tomatoes, cut side up, on wire rack in large baking dish.
 Brush cut side of tomatoes with combined olive oil, chilli sauce and
 garlic, sprinkle with combined salt and pepper.
 Bake uncovered in moderate oven about 1 1/2 hours or until lightly browned
 and softened; cool.
 serve cool roasted tomatoes drizzled with dressing.
 DRESSING
 Combine all ingredients in a screw top jar, shake well.
