                          Layered Vegetable Salad

   Amount  Measure       Ingredient -- Preparation Method
 --------  ------------  --------------------------------
    1      Head          Lettuce -- shredded
      1/2  Cup           Red Onion -- chopped
      1/2  Cup           Celery -- chopped
      1/2  Cup           Green Bell Pepper -- chopped
    1      10 Oz. Pkg    Frozen Peas -- cook, drain & cool
    1      Pint          Good Quality Mayonnaise
    1      Tablespoon    Sugar
      3/4  Cup           Sharp Cheddar Cheese* -- grated
   10      Slices        Bacon -- cooked and crumbled
 
 Layer the lettuce, onion, celery, pepper, and peas in a bowl.  Cover
 with a layer of mayonnaise, sealing the edges.  Sprinkle with sugar,
 grated cheese, and crumbled bacon.  Cover tightly and regfigerate for up
 to 24 hours.  Toss and serve.
