       Title: Marie’s Best Pancakes

       1    Egg
   1 1/4 c  Buttermilk or sour milk
       2 tb Shortening, soft
   1 1/4 c  Flour; sifted
       1 ts Sugar
       1 ts Baking powder
     1/2 ts Baking soda
     1/2 ts Salt
     1/2 ts Vanilla extract (or 1 tsp)
       1 tb Maple syrup
  
   Heat griddle slowly while mixing batter. Beat egg well. Beat in all other
   ingredients until smooth and pour onto griddle. Pancakes will be sweet and
   fluffy.
   
   Adjust vanilla extract and maple syrup measurements to taste.
