       Title: Sicilian Cassata--Part 1

       Yield: 1 servings
  
            Cake:
       2 ts Unsalted butter; melted
     1/2 c  Cake flour
       2 tb Cornstarch
       8    Eggs (divided 3 eggs
            = 3 egg yolks and 2 egg
            -whites
     1/2 c  Sugar
       1 ts Vanilla extract
       1 c  Marsala wine
            = (used for cake assembly)
            Chocolate custard:
       1 c  Milk
       1 c  Heavy cream
     1/2 c  Sugar
       6    Eggs (divided
            =  2 whole eggs/ 4 egg yolks
     1/4 c  Cornstarch
       1 tb Vanilla extract
       3 oz Semisweet chocolate; chopped
            = (or 3 ozs semisweet chips)
  
        Cake: preheat oven to 325. Coat a 9 by 1 1/2 inch cake
   pan w/ melted butter. Line w/ parchment paper & coat w/
   butter. Sift together cake flour & 2 tbs. cornstarch. Set
   aside.
