       Yield: 1 servings
       1 tb Shortening; for greasing pan
   1 1/2 c  Sifted all-purpose flour
       1 c  Granulated sugar
     1/3 c  Unsweetened cocoa powder
       1 ts Baking soda
     1/2 ts Salt
       1 c  Cold water
     1/2 c  Corn oil
       2 tb Apple cider vinegar
       2 ts Pure vanilla extract
            Powdered sugar
            Or frosting
            Your choice
   For best results, prepare this cake the day before you
   intend to serve it to allow the flavors to mellow.
   Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Generously grease on
   8x8x2-inch square baking pan. Sift together flour, sugar,
   cocoa, baking soda, and salt directly into the baking pan.
   Add water, oil, vinegar, and vanilla extract. Stir (DO NOT
   BEAT!) with fork until mixture is smooth and Place pan on
   center shelf of oven. Bake until toothpick inserted in
   center of cake comes out clean (30-35 minutes). Let cool.
   Sprinkle with powdered sugar (or frost with the frosting of
   your choice).
