                             Jewish Apple Cake

    5      large         tart apples
    2 1/2  Tbl           cinnamon
    7      Tbls          sugar
    4      large         eggs
    3      tsp           baking powder
    1      tsp           salt
    3      cups          flour
    1      cup           cooking oil
    2 1/2  cups          sugar
      1/4  cup           orange juice
      3/4  cup           pecans
 
 Peel the apples, slice thinly. Mix well with cinnamon and 7 Tbls sugar, coverin
 g apples well. Set aside. Mix other igredients well. Add nuts. Into a well grea
 sed tube pan, pour half the batter. Add half the apples, then the remaining hal
 f of the batter, and the rest of the apples on top. Bake for 1 hr and 45 min. B
 egin checking after the first hour. Let cool _in pan_ 20 minutes.
